Beat the Monday Blues

With bad moods and depression having a negative effect on our bodies and skin, it’s important to try and focus on the positive in your life and think about ways we can be grateful to help reduce feelings of stress and depression.
Stress is most commonly linked with skin flare ups like stubborn pimples, but a negative state of mind can have a more serious impact on our bodies and psyche. Happiness comes from within:
Today is just another media driven day. Just like Valentine’s Day, you can choose to be a part of it or not. If you wake up with the mindset that today or any day will be the most depressing day of the year, most likely it will be. But if you wake up, seize the day and decide that today will be the best day of the year, you will make that happen. Positive thinking is something we should all be more proactive about, it’s too easy to fall into a spiral of negativity. Happy thoughts will help you to see the good in your day, in others and in your life.
Bask in the sunlight:
Despite the grey and dreary wet weather, a little natural light will work wonders on your mood. Exposure to the sun’s natural light releases serotonin, the most important feel-good neurotransmitter in our bodies. As well as boosting our levels of Vitamin D, sunlight also releases endorphins – the ‘feel-good’ hormone. Spending just 10 minutes outside each day is proven to improve our mood and state of mind – and it’s great for your skin.
Combined with our need for natural light, exercise also boosts endorphins. This feel good ‘rush’ we get when we exercise and is what makes us want to keep exercising, and is followed by a feeling of happiness and calm. Whether you like gentle walking and aqua-aerobics or fast paced running and cycling, you are keeping your body and mind happy and healthy.

If someone were to tell you that you had a magical smile, I’m sure you would blush. But it’s true, you really do! When you smile, you release a cascade of feel-good chemicals in your brain.
