With our high-stress city lifestyles overflowing with work commitments, dating and or maintaining an active social life, it can be challenging at times to ensure we’re getting the vitamins and minerals our bodies need every day.  DIY organic smoothies or juices bursting with skin-enriching vitamins and minerals are a great way to start the day right with the majority of our five-a-day in one.

Antioxidants are found in high quantities in vitamin-rich skinfoods. Antioxidants, we now understand, play a pivotal role in not only slowing the biological signs of ageing, but also protecting the skin from the damaging and ageing effects of the sun.

One of my favourite morning rituals is to make a delicious organic smoothie or juice bursting with skin-brightening superfoods that help our skin look radiant from the inside.

One of my key secret ingredients is fig for its magical ability to protect our skin from the damaging effects of ageing and stress. Packed with vitamins C and B, potassium, megnesium, calcium and phosphorus blend together for the ultimate skin rejuvenating smoothie.

For this potent glowing skin concoction, you will need:

  • 1 medium sized sweet mango
  • 2 medium bananas
  • 10 dried figs
  • Half a cup of almond,soy or regular milk
  • Ice cubes


  1. Peel and chop the bananas and the mango
  2. Add to blender, along with figs and milk
  3. Blend until smooth
  4. Pour and serve over ice
