Veganuary… maybe going vegan for a whole month is too much of a commitement but what using the first month of the year to adopting more plant-based meals into your diet. Not only are the benefits numerous for the body, particulary after a seasonal indulgence, but also counts incredible results for the skin too.
Whilst the vegan focus is usually to avoid animal products, “plant-based” is more of a flexible way of thinking about nutrition and ingredient quality with the focus on incorporating more simple, nutritious whole foods.
Another major reason to jump on the plant-based eating train is for the external benefits which are loaded with healthy fats, vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals, which can improve skin clarity and help you get that glow. Essential fats and acids offer a number of skin benefits such as helping to calm acne, fight dryness, combat oiliness, smooth scars, and increase skin elasticity.
One of the better known plant-based vitamin all-stars is vitamin C, which is a powerful antioxidant which works on strengthening your body’s cells by combating free radicals which can be found in fruit and vegetables such as broccoli, papaya, apricot, and bell peppers. Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin, spending most of its time in the bloodstream and a water-based area called the extracellular matrix, and a required nutrient for collagen synthesis. Maintaining a high level of vitamin C inside our bodies and at skin level helps to promote collagen regeneration.
Phospholipids are another important chemical class naturally found in plant based skincare ingredients. They are considered complex lipids (fatty acid molecules attached to another compound, making them more chemically similar to the molecules naturally found in human cell membranes). They naturally provide skin with increased elasticity, promote skin renewal, and calm inflammation. One important phospholipid naturally found in sea buckthorn oil is lecithin, the benefits of which can be found in Radiant Light Facial Oil Serum. A skin brightening, 100% natural, potent formulation of 18 pure plant extracts including Rich in vitamins A, C and E and skin feeding Omega 3, 6 and 7, olive fruit extract to help cocoon and protect the skin from further damage caused by environmental pollutants and of course sea buckthorn accelerates the skin’s regeneration process, promoting the healing of damaged skin and softens scar tissue.
Hydrocolloids, found in tofu, are naturally occurring polymers give plant-based skincare products a natural texture without the need for harmful petrochemicals and contain naturally occurring lipids and esters that help support the skin’s natural defence barrier to smooth, protect, and repair. Supporting the skin’s microbiome, skin’s natural defence barrier, is so important – and new Crème Supreme Rich is deeply infused with Chlorella Vulgaris Extract, a natural and strong prebiotic which helps provides balanced skin nutrition to probiotics and preserves skin balance with its complete prebiotic effect – both direct and indirect.
